This paper focuses on the graphic reconstruction process and on the emotional response that the reconstructions stimulate. The reconstruction process is a collaboration carried out by archaeologist and illustrator and shall be considered as an instrument for both the visual verification of the archaeological interpretation and the spread out of the archaeological data to different kinds of beneficiaries. This process is made possible by the continuous exchange of information (scientific data and reconstruction hypotheses) and the debate originating from this helps in setting methods and schedules of the reconstruction process. The method is based on the integration between 3D and traditional illustration and is aimed to the creation of reconstructions that will meet both the requirements of scientific reliability and aesthetic satisfaction.
