Arqueología y Difusión en la Internet: La experiencia de Arkeos, Revista Electrónica de Arqueología PUCP

Abstract

Arkeos, Electronic Magazine of Archaeology PUCP, was born as an undergraduate and graduate students’ project from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (sponsored by this university) with the purpose of creating a space for discussion between archaeologists and the general public. It has been designed as a low-cost project to reach a wide audience taking advantage of the increasing spread of Internet worldwide.

In countries like Peru, several research projects are done every year. Regretfully, most of the results of these projects are not widely spread into the general public. In this presentation, the causes of this problem will be analyzed, and, by the experience of Arkeos, we will present the advantages and possibilities of electronic publications to solve it.
